Preparing for Your Sleep Study

Can I visit the center before my study?
Yes, tours of the sleep lab are available during the day. Please feel free to call us to schedule a tour before your test.

What should I bring to the sleep center?
Please plan on bringing comfortable sleeping clothes, toiletries, and anything you may need for the morning. Some patients prefer to bring their own pillow.

What should I do before I arrive at the sleep center?
Before you arrive at the sleep center, please:

  • Eat dinner before you check in. Dinner will not be provided. Vending machines are available on site.
  • Shower, shave and shampoo your hair. Please avoid using any sprays, oils, gels or make-up. Men do not need to shave their beards.

What should I avoid before I arrive at the sleep center?
Before arriving at the sleep center, please:

  • Avoid consuming any alcohol and limit food or beverages that contain caffeine.
  • Try not to take any nap on the day of the study.
  • Do not bring valuables such as personal computers, jewlery, etc., as we cannot be held responsible if they are lost of misplaced.
  • Stay away from conducting business activities during your stay in the lab.

What if I am running late for my appointment?

  • As a courtesy to other patients, it is important to arrive on time for your sleep study. However, we understand that circumstances may arise making it difficult to arrive on time. If you are running late, please call us directly at 206-386-4744 and let us know your approximate time of arrival.
